2015 Petite Sirah, Pre-Release

2015 Petite Sirah, Pre-Release

Deep rich purple red color. Unctuous black cherry & dusty aromas. On the palate: blackberry jam & white pepper with notes of toasted oak. Mouthfilling with lovely structure. A thoroughly enjoyable, remarkable, sophisticated "cool climate" version of Petite Sirah

Vineyard Notes
Planted on a southwest facing site on sandy loam soil in Southern Monterey County near San Antonio Lake), this vineyard grows Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot but also to Syrah and Petite Sirah and is owned by one of our very own wine club members Joe Greene. Also known as the “San Antonio Valley” (although this vineyard is not included in that AVA) the area experiences heat during the growing season – similar to the northern San Luis Obispo County area – but nighttime temperatures at this particular site can also drop well into the 40’s. This temperature difference encourages flavor development over sugar accumulation which in the bottle means concentration without the alcohol.
